Here's Me Debt Free: Consumers Can Win $5,000 To Help Pay Off Credit Card Debt

Here's Me Debt Free Contest

How would you feel if you were debt free? Like Superman taking to the skies? Maybe a gold medal winner on the podium at the Olympics? Your daydream could end up helping you pay off up to $5,000 in credit card debt if you are the grand prize winner of a new online video contest.

The non-profit credit counselors at American Debt Counseling are inspiring consumers to shed their debt and offering to jump start their efforts through the nationwide "Here's Me Debt Free" campaign running June 1 through July 31.

The online contest invites anyone 18 years or older living in the United States with an excess of $500 in credit card debt to use a camcorder, camera or mobile device to record and submit a funny and creative video portraying how they would feel if they were suddenly debt free.

Three winners will be selected. A grand prize of $5,000, a second place prize of $1,000 and a third place prize of $500 will be awarded in the form of direct payments toward winners' existing credit card balances.

"Last year alone, American Debt Counseling credit counselors helped clients pay off more than $37 million in credit card debt," said ADC Enrollment Manager Kirby Nelson. "Everyone always uses negative imagery such as "drowning in debt," yet we get to see the other side when we talk with people who are so happy to have successfully taken control of their finances. With this contest we hope to focus on the positive aspects of managing debt."

The videos should be no more than three minutes and will be judged on originality, creativity, adherence to theme and number of page views generated. More information and full contest rules are available at americandebtcounseling.org/heresmedebtfree.

Submissions will be available for online viewing at americandebtcounseling.org/heresmedebtfree and on the ADC Facebook page. Winners will be announced in September.
